KOTA KINABALU: Leaders of the Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat (KDM) in the Tamparuli and Kiulu areas, Dr. Gaim James Lunkapis and Henry Saimpon, concur that the establishment of quality infrastructure is paramount in their initiatives to enhance the socioeconomic conditions of rural populations.

They contend that effective infrastructure will serve as a primary driver for elevating the living standards of local inhabitants, generating additional employment opportunities, and fostering economic development.

In a joint statement, KDM leaders Dr. Gaim and Henry highlighted that essential amenities such as roads, clean water access, electricity, and communication systems in many parts of Kiulu and Tamparuli are severely lacking and require immediate improvement.

“We recognise that rural residents encounter numerous challenges, particularly regarding access to equitable economic and educational opportunities.”

“Thus, robust infrastructure not only facilitates access to essential services but also boosts the competitiveness of rural areas in comparison to urban centres,” remarked one of the KDM leaders.

The KDM leaders also reiterated their dedication to promoting inclusive and sustainable development initiatives, should the government provide them with the opportunity.

They are confident that through meticulous planning and strong partnerships with authorities and relevant organisations, infrastructure advancements in the Tamparuli and Kiulu regions can be realised.

“If granted the opportunity, this will be a priority for KDM,” they emphasised.

Their aspiration is to ensure that rural communities reap the same developmental advantages as their urban counterparts, thereby contributing to the overall advancement of Sabah.

This declaration underscores the importance of not neglecting rural socioeconomic development.

With solid infrastructure in place, rural communities, particularly in Tamparuli and Kiulu, will have enhanced prospects for progress and an improved quality of life.
