In making the call, Datuk Seri Panglima Bung Moktar Radin, the Sabah UMNO chief, highlighted the imminent election, despite the State Assembly’s term ending next year.

“Inspections across various branches show that grassroots readiness is satisfactory, yet there is still significant room for improvement. Several key areas must be addressed before the election,” he stated following a meeting of the Sabah UMNO Liaison Committee at the Sabah UMNO headquarters here on Monday.

He stressed the importance of promptly updating the membership numbers at each branch and Polling District Centre (PDM). This update should encompass not only the count of voters but also the early establishment and revision of committees at the PDM level, which must be fully activated in preparation for the election.

Furthermore, Bung, who is also a member of the UMNO Supreme Council, called on UMNO divisions throughout the state to persist in executing programs that connect with the grassroots, support those in need, and tackle development issues that should be communicated to the relevant authorities.

“I urge the main wings—Women, Youth, and Puteri—to collaborate effectively in implementing these programs, as fostering a culture of teamwork is vital for the party’s strength,” Bung emphasised.

During the meeting, UMNO Sabah reaffirmed its support for former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, who is currently serving a sentence.

According to Bung, the Member of Parliament for Kinabatangan, Sabah UMNO remains unwavering in its solidarity with Najib.
