Sabah’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Datuk Ellron Angin, said that the decision was made unanimously on Wednesday by the Cabinet members led by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, after evaluating various factors.

Regarding the initial proposal for Sabah to be a co-host for the SEA Games 2027, he mentioned that it still requires the Cabinet’s approval.

“Recently, we agreed that Sabah will review and reconsider this proposal,” he said in a statement today.

Ellron added that the Sabah Ministry of Youth and Sports will hold further discussions with the Malaysian Ministry of Youth and Sports to gather more details about the co-hosting proposal for the SEA Games 2027.

“I will meet with the Minister of KBSM as soon as possible to discuss and clarify this matter in detail.

“The results of the discussions and detailed information regarding the hosting will be presented for the Sabah Cabinet’s consideration,” he said.

However, Ellron, a former national sprinter, expressed that the state government welcomes the federal government’s intention to host the event and will provide full support and work closely to ensure the success of the SEA Games 2027.
