KOTA KINABALU: Sabah UMNO Treasurer Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak hopes that the people in the state will not be influenced by the claims of a few parties that are urging them to only choose local parties ahead of the upcoming Sabah State Election (PRN).
According to SUARA.TV, the Usukan assemblyman instead said that only through a coalition of national parties can bring about change to the development in the state.
“Do not be infected with the ‘Borneo bloc’ disease, only local parties for the people of Sabah.
“The national party from the Federal Government does not take away the rights of the people of Sabah.
“…because it is the national party that returns the rights of the people of Sabah to the people of Sabah. What have the local parties, the ruling parties done? Nothing… just shouting here and there and then asking for help from the Federal Government.
“The fact is, if we want to develop, there is no better and more suitable formula for Sabah than a coalition of national parties and a coalition of local parties.
“This is what we must fight against; do not be afraid to face this issue, while Umno-Barisan Nasional (BN) is the one that brings development and progress to Sabah,” reported SUARA.TV, citing a recent report from UMNO Online.
Salleh, who is also the former Chief Minister of Sabah, said that Umno-BN, led by Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin, should be given the opportunity to govern the state again to ensure that the agenda of prospering the state and its people can be implemented effectively.
“I hope Umno-BN is given the opportunity to determine any coalition decisions because the coalition must be based on three things: development politics, autonomy, and accommodation or power sharing.
“God willing, BN Sabah under the leadership of Bung Moktar will provide the recipe for developing the state. We will provide what needs to be done for the people’s problems, with plans for job opportunities, the future of young people,” he said.
