Ewon, who is also the Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives, said that the plan is also the result of the aspirations of the people of Penampang, which is complemented by the planning of government agencies in the district.

“I wish this plan to highlight the vision of development in Penampang and at the same time, be practical to implement.

“My responsibility as a People’s Representative here is to make this document an input to the government’s development plan and then work on allocations to make the aspirations in this plan a success,” he said.

Ewon said this after attending a special briefing on the findings of the Penampang Development Plan 2024 – 2035 at Wisma IDS, near here today.

Also present was the Chief Executive Officer of IDS, Professor Datuk Dr Ramzah Dambul.

Ewon said the Penampang Development Plan includes a draft Local Plan, Entrepreneurship Development Plan, Education Development Plan and other development plans in the district.

“Issues and challenges have also been identified to facilitate decision-making in the future,” he said.

Ewon said, as the Penampang MP, it is his responsibility to provide effective leadership so that the people’s aspirations documented in the form of a development plan can be realised.

“The Prime Minister (Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim) has agreed to visit Penampang on November 18 for the inauguration of the National Hawkers and Small Traders Day (HPPK). The sideline program at this ceremony is the launch of the Penampang Development Plan.

“I will request a number of allocations from the YAB Prime Minister to start the implementation of development projects, especially small and medium-scale ones, starting next year. While large-scale projects will go through related processes starting with the District Development Action Committee (JTPD) meeting,” he said.

Ewon, who is also Kadamaian assemblyman, said the same approach will be used to make the Kadamaian Development Plan, 2020 – 2035 a success.
