KOTA KINABALU: Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) chairman Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor has been asked to clarify the position of the two deputy chairmen of GRS, namely STAR President Datuk Dr. Jeffery Kiringan and SAPP President Datuk Yong Teck Lee, who remain Perikatan Nasional (PN)’s deputy chairman.
In making the call, Sabah UMNO Communications and Strategic Director Datu Rosman Datu Ahir Zaman said the clarification on the matter was important to avoid confusion.
He said this is because at the state level their party is a member of the GRS coalition and expressed support for the Unity government led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, at the same time, remaining holding higher positions in PN.
“We want Hajiji as GRS Chairman to clarify their position (Jeffery and Yong). We do not want two-faced leaders who support the Unityvgovernment but at the same time have positions in the opposition party,” he said.
Datu Rosman said this when asked to comment on the appointment of Jeffery and Yong as PN Deputy Chairman as it went viral on social media.
Previously, Sukau PGRS Division Chief Datuk Juhari Janan, who made remarks during the launch of Sukau and Lamag PGRS divisions, which was officiated by its president, Datuk Hajiji Noor, “wished for the defeat of PH and BN” in the state elections in six states on August 12, although Juh aari later denied making such statement.
“Only “deaf” people can’t hear Juhari’s speech during the ceremony,” he said.
Datu Rosman added that if Hajiji fails to explain the matter to the public, it clearly shows that the PGRS does not sincerely support the Unity Government.
“If this is their stance (GRS) it is clear that they are not sincere, they are only expressing support for their personal and political interests which should be rejected by the people of Sabah,” said Datu Rosman.
