LAHAD DATU: Sabah UMNO election machinery director Jeffery Noor Mohmed has urged the leadership of all UMNO divisions and branches in the state to be prepared “as though the state elections and 16th General Election” will be held tomorrow.
He cited the advice by Sabah UMNO Liaison Committee Chairman Datuk Seri Panglima Bung Moktar Radin that ” If you need to win, work the manner in which individuals need to win” which according to Jeiffery should be a reminder to all UMNO leadership and members to be ready for state elections.
“Be prepared now for state/general elections as though it will be held tomorrow,” he said.
Jeffrey said this after attending a briefing session with the UMNO leadership of the Lahad Datu division and the Sabah UMNO Elections Department, here recently.
Also present were Lahad Division UMNO chief Datu Sharif Musa Sharif Mabul, his deputy Datuk Hajah Saleha Wahid and Lahad Datu Division UMNO Vice chief Datin Maizatul Akmam Alawi.
According to Jeffery, who is also the Putatan UMNO chief, it is important to put the party ahead of everything else as the state election is expected to be held in less than two years.
Jeffery emphasised that all UMNO leaders and grassroots members must prioritise the party’s interests over those of particular individuals or factions.
“We have accomplished a lot in this year; now is the final opportunity to strengthen our spirit, unite, and put aside our differences following the party election. We should now focus on the upcoming state elections ,” said Jeffery.
“We also want the party machinery to be more organised from now on. In addition, all forms of grassroots programs need to be activated, not necessarily on a large scale, the important thing is that UMNO is always by the people’s side in times of joy and sorrow,” he said.
Meanwhile, Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (Gagasan Rakyat) Supreme Council had recently instructed all party divisions in the state to streamline their party’s machinery for the upcoming state elections.
