KOTA KINABALU: The readiness of GRS’ component parties to use GRS symbol in the GE15 indicating the coalition’s success in unison for a common vision, said Jamain Sarudin.
Regarding the distribution of seats, Jamain, Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) Youth Chief said he is confident that, with the wisdom of GRS Chairman Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor, who is also the Chief Minister of Sabah, the matter of seats sharing can be sorted out amicably.
“Every component party of a coalition certainly has its own plans and intends to contest in several constituencies.
“That’s normal,” said Jamain in a statement after he chaired the SAPP Youth’s first meeting subsequent to the party’s congress last September.
He added he believed all parties will eventually agree on the final decision with consensus.
Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) was registered and legalised on 11 March, 2022 by founding component parties including Malaysian United Indigenous Party (BERSATU or PPBM), United Sabah Party (PBS), Homeland Solidarity Party (STAR) and Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP).
Later, United Sabah National Organisation (USNO) was then accepted as a member of GRS, while several other parties such as Love Sabah Party (PCS), Social Democratic Harmony Party (KDM) and Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) applied to join GRS.
“GRS is a symbol of unity for Sabahans as it is the first ever registered local political coalition in Sabah, which consolidates political leaders of Sabah.
Jamain, who is also GRS Youth deputy chief, explained it is GRS which guides and monitors the cooperation of all of its component parties, including PBBM, instead of what alleged by the opposition which is trying to mislead and confuse the people.
“To make it clear, every candidate who will be contesting under the GRS banner, needs to get the affidavit of candidacy (surat watikah) issued and signed by the GRS chairman, not by the president of any component parties, not even PPBM.
