KOTA KINABALU: Parti Warisan is not afraid to confront its rivals, least of all SAPP, because the party led by Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal is confident of its struggles and has been consistently putting the plight of the people first above all else.
Kalabakan Divisional Chief, Sarifuddin Hata said the constant attacks from SAPP president, Datuk Yong Teck Lee has not dampened the party spirit but instead fired them up to continue fighting for the interest of the people as spelled out in MA63.
“It is amusing that Yong Teck Lee is inclined to constantly denigrate Warisan by throwing all sorts of accusations. It is almost as if he’s obsessed with trying to bring us down.
“Recently he announced that he was ready to take on all Warisan assemblymen and members of parliament.
“That just shows arrogance and is a poor attempt to gain publicity. Yong’s political lifeline is actually over but it’s being artificially resuscitated by Perikatan Nasional and others.”
Sarifuddin highlighted that in 2001 the High Court had ordered Yong to vacate his state assembly seat of Likas, ruling that he won it in 1999 with the help of ‘phantom voters’.
Since then, he’s made several attempts to make a comeback in the state elections but clearly, the people rejected him and his party SAPP when their candidates suffered losses and lost their deposits.
“How much longer does Yong want to remain in politics? It’s game over for him. That’s the reality.”
