SOOK: Sabah Credit Corporation (SCC) has successfully brought investment to the state through several financial institutions and fund management companies through the sale of sukuk.
PPS Chief Executive Officer (CEO), George Taitim Tulas said so far the total investment received through the sale of sukuk is RM1.71 billion.
“All these investments are used to finance personal, business and project financing in the state.
“The investors’ confidence in SCC also reflects their confidence in the State Government administration which has always given strong and solid support to SCC,” he said, hoping that SCC could also resume in offering housing loan facilities for state civil servants.
He said this at the opening of the SCC Customer Centre Sook which operates in Pekan Baru Sook, here, today. The ceremony was officiated by Youth and Sports Minister and Sook Assemblyman, Datuk Ellron Angin.
SCC is a statutory body wholly owned by the Sabah State Government and operates under the Ministry of Finance (MOF). In line with its founding mandate on 15 June 1955, SCC provides financial products and services such as personal loans, business, industrial, housing, agriculture, social economy and so on.
For the Financial Year 2021, SCC has reported an audited pre-tax profit of RM92 million and was able to assist 80,000 local individuals and companies through the products and services provided.
“With this continuous profit, SCC can continue with the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme that was implemented since 2005. This is one of SCC’s services in an effort to help the ‘underserved’ in Sabah,” said George.
He also thanked the State Government Cabinet led by YAB Chief Minister cum Finance Minister I, Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Haji Noor, as well as the State Government administration led by YB Datuk Seri Panglima Sr. Hj. Safar Untong, Chairman and all SCC Board Members for the strong support given which led to the smooth operation and sustainability of SCC.
In addition, he also thanked all SCC staff who are always rigid in their efforts to achieve the SCC vision and mission and for being persistent in delivering “Service Beyond Self”, and to all SCC customers, government departments and agencies, government -owned companies (GLCs), communities and the private sector who are always loyal to support in all aspects of business and services including ‘Sabah Pay’.
“With this strong support, SCC has achieved a very proud performance every year,” he said.
