Aaron and Soh on course to regain BWF World Championships doubles crown

KOTA KINABALU: Malaysian men’s doubles duo Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik have secured a spot in the final of the 2026 BWF World Championships in New Delhi, following a 21-18, 21-18 victory over South Korea’s Kim Won-ho and Seo Seung-jae in Saturday night’s semi-final.

The win puts them within reach of claiming their second BWF World Championships men’s doubles title.

Back in 2022, the pair etched their names in history as Malaysia’s first-ever world badminton champions after capturing gold in the men’s doubles event at the BWF World Championships in Tokyo.

Ranked fourth globally, Aaron and Wooi Yik reunited after a month-long separation and demonstrated strong form, having earlier advanced with a 21-11, 21-17 quarterfinal win over China’s Hu Keyuan and Lin Xiangyi.

They are expected to face off against China’s top doubles pair of C Wang and W.K Liang in the final on Sunday.
