KOTA KINABALU: The Malaysia-China Chamber of Commerce (MCCC) Sabah aims to be the most robust link between Sabah, Malaysia, and China, according to MCCC Sabah president Datuk Dexter Lau.
He noted that over the years, MCCC Sabah has cultivated strong relationships and developed wide-ranging partnerships with Chinese government bodies, provincial and municipal authorities, industry federations, business associations, enterprises, as well as Malaysian federal agencies, Sabah state institutions, and leading chambers of commerce.
“Today, MCCC Sabah has evolved into a key platform for Malaysia-China cooperation.
“We take pride in being the primary contact for Chinese companies exploring investment prospects in Sabah and East Malaysia, while also working to become the most reliable partner for Sabah businesses looking to access the Chinese market,” he added.
Datuk Dexter made these remarks during his welcome speech at a networking dinner hosted for a delegation from the Dalian Federation of Industry and Commerce, China, held Saturday night.
He emphasized that MCCC Sabah has consistently supported bilateral collaboration not only in trade, investment, and commerce, but also in government relations, education, culture, tourism, technology, and youth development.
He highlighted the presence of representatives from various Sabah-based organizations, including the Malaysia-China Friendship Association Sabah, Sabah China Chamber of Commerce, SME Association of Sabah, Penampang Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Kota Kinabalu Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Sabah Women Entrepreneurs & Professionals Association (SWEPA), PUMM Sabah, Kadazandusun Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), Sabah Indian Muslim Chamber of Commerce, Sabah Bumiputera Chamber of Commerce (SBCC), The United Sabah Chinese Communities Association of Kota Kinabalu, The Association of Graduates from Universities and Colleges of China, Malaysia, China Graduates Alumni Association of Sabah, China Enterprises Chamber of Commerce in Malaysia (Sabah Chapter), academics from Xiamen University, officials from government agencies and government-linked companies (GLCs), and prominent leaders across sectors—all gathered to welcome the Dalian delegation.
“The attendance of so many esteemed guests tonight reflects not only our warm welcome to our friends from Dalian, but also our shared recognition of the value of Malaysia-China cooperation.
“It also demonstrates MCCC Sabah’s ability to bring together diverse stakeholders, coordinate resources, and function as an effective platform for meaningful engagement.
“Mutual trust, we believe, is the cornerstone of any successful partnership,” he said.
Looking ahead, Datuk Dexter stated that MCCC Sabah will continue fulfilling its role as a bridge, fostering greater opportunities for collaboration and business expansion between the two regions and their enterprises.
