The ‘Omni Presence’ operation strengthens ESSCOM enforcement in Lahad Datu

LAHAD DATU: The Eastern Sabah Security Command (ESSCOM) is enhancing its enforcement in the Eastern Sabah Security Zone (ESS Zone) through the implementation of the ‘Omni Presence’ operation conducted around the township of Lahah Datu, here on Thursday.

ESSCOM Commander, Datuk Victor B. Sanjos, stated that this operation is a continuous effort to ensure compliance with the laws and regulations in force.

Additionally, he mentioned that it aims to combat the presence of illegal immigrants (PATI), illicit economic activities, and to bolster public safety and order.

He noted that the operation is also carried out as a ‘show of force’ to demonstrate ESSCOM’s firmness against any parties attempting to exploit the situation by violating laws that jeopardize the safety, economy, and well-being of the community in the ESS Zone.

“ESSCOM will not compromise on any form of legal violations. The presence of security personnel in the field sends a clear message that enforcement will continue to be intensified over time,” he said in a statement here.

According to him, the operation involved 53 officers and personnel conducting inspections at business premises and among the public in the Lahad Datu area.

During the operation, a total of 342 individuals were checked to ensure compliance with the law, as well as to detect any elements that could threaten the security of the ESS Zone.

In the same operation, the enforcement team also seized 75 packets of various types of smuggled cigarettes and 19 boxes of Aladdin matches, with an estimated seizure value of RM800.

Victor stated that the Omni Presence operation is part of ESSCOM’s Sanggah Operation, implemented in line with the Madani Government’s efforts to strengthen security operations, particularly in the Esszone area.
