Hajiji underscores education as central to Sabah’s development

KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah state government reaffirmed its commitment to placing education at the forefront of its development agenda, with an emphasis on building human capital and advancing fields such as TVET, STEM, and artificial intelligence (AI).

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor highlighted that multiple initiatives are either in place or underway to improve educational access for residents.

These include school construction projects, the provision of information and communication technology (ICT) equipment, and various forms of academic support.

He noted that ongoing assistance programs—such as the one-time IPT registration cash aid (BUDI), computer subsidies, special exam grants, SENTOSA aid, and flight ticket support for students from Sabah—remain active components of the government’s strategy.

“Investing in education remains a priority because it forms the foundation for both progress in the state and the welfare of its people,” he said at the launch of the 2026 Fourth School Management Appreciation Ceremony (MAPenS).

On the same occasion, Hajiji awarded 33 teachers across five categories in recognition of their contributions at the state level.
