KOTA KINABALU: The Warisan Sabah party says it anticipated the departure of former Supreme Council member Mohd Taib Isai and several other party leaders.
Party Secretary-General Datuk Loretto Padua Jr said the move came as no surprise, noting that concerns had been evident since the announcement of the previous election candidates.
He added that the resignations do not alter the party’s overall direction.
While expressing respect for the decisions made by Mohd Taib and his associates, Loretto stressed that public criticism of party leadership after leaving is unwarranted.
He acknowledged that selecting candidates is an ongoing challenge for any political organization, as not every capable leader can be fielded in elections.
Currently, Warisan is concentrating on reinforcing its internal structure and ensuring party branches remain active in connecting with communities.
Loretto emphasized that a party’s strength comes from its collective membership and grassroots support, not individual figures.
“Political landscapes constantly shift—people join, and others leave. But the commitment to serving Sabah’s people must go on,” he said.
