KUDAT: An 11-year-old boy was found drowned after reportedly slipping while fishing in the irrigation canal at Kampung Masankong on Thursday afternoon.
During the incident, which occurred around 6 PM, the victim was said to be fishing with a friend before falling into the canal.
The Chief of the Kudat Fire and Rescue Station, PPgB Darikson Galanang, stated that they received an emergency call at 5:59 PM, prompting a team of 10 members along with equipment to be dispatched to the scene.
“The victim was successfully located by members of the public before the fire brigade arrived at the site.
“The victim was later pronounced dead by a medical officer from the Ministry of Health Malaysia (KKM) before being handed over to the police for further action,” he mentioned in a press statement.
The operation was fully concluded by 7:12 PM.
