Four people arrested for drug use during entertainment venue raid in Penampang

PENAMPANG: Four local individuals—three men and one woman, aged 19 to 30—were taken into custody after testing positive for drugs during a pre-dawn operation targeting entertainment centres on Sunday.

The District Narcotics Crime Investigation Division (BSJND) of the Penampang District Police Headquarters (IPD) carried out the operation.

Superintendent Sammy Newton, head of the Penampang police, said the raid was led by Assistant Superintendent Bakar Jasa and focused on two entertainment establishments in the district.

A total of 28 people were subjected to urine testing during the inspections.

Newton confirmed that the four who tested positive showed traces of methamphetamine (METH) and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).

All have been arrested and are now under investigation under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for consuming controlled substances.

He emphasised that such coordinated enforcement actions will continue to be strengthened to curb drug misuse and ensure entertainment venues adhere to legal requirements and regulations.
