PENAMPANG: Dim Sum Palace, a renowned, highly-rated Cantonese and dim sum restaurant chain, officially opened its doors at ITCC today, with the event attended by H.E. Datuk Andrew Sim, Honorary Consul of Australia to Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.
Alexander Hugo Malakun, director of Dim Sum Palace—fully owned by Sinundu Sdn Bhd—shared that the establishment is more than just a dining venue. It is a family-driven initiative aimed at bringing high-quality dim sum and authentic Chinese cuisine to ITCC and the residents of Penampang.
Positioned within the expanding ITCC complex, Alexander expressed his hope that the restaurant will become a welcoming space where families, friends, visitors, and locals can come together to enjoy good food in a warm and inviting environment, adding to the diverse range of dining options already available at the mall.
The management also wishes to inform patrons that Dim Sum Palace is a non-halal establishment, focusing on traditional Chinese dishes and freshly made dim sum.
The restaurant will begin regular daily operations tomorrow (25 May 2026), opening at 7.00 am at Lots G-6 and G-33B on the Ground Floor of ITCC Shopping Mall, Penampang.
Alexander extended heartfelt thanks to the Guest of Honour, Y. Bhg. Tan Sri DSP Andrew Liew Sui Fatt, JP, for attending the opening ceremony.
He also acknowledged the presence and support of his brother, YB Datuk Ceasar Mandela Malakun, Assistant Minister in the Sabah Chief Minister’s Department; the company’s chairman, Datuk Seri Panglima Clarence B. Malakun, JP, and Datin Seri Panglima Sylvia Wong; members and associates of MAJAPS; KCCI President Datuk Ladislaus Maluda and fellow KCCI members; as well as business partners and friends.
He expressed deep appreciation to everyone present, noting their support throughout the journey and emphasizing how their presence adds motivation to uphold standards in food quality and dining experience.
As the celebration coincides with the Kaamatan season, Alexander concluded with a traditional greeting: “Kotobian Tadau Tagazo Do Kaamatan.”
