KOTA KINABALU: Anglers can still sign up for the Sepanggar Fishing Festival 2026, which features a prize pool of RM16,100, as the registration deadline has been extended to May 16 at 12 noon.
OrganisedOrganised by Sabah News Today (SNT) in partnership with Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) and the Kampung Bangka-Bangka fishing community, the event will be held on May 17 from 7 AM to 12 noon at the ODEC UMS site.
Zakaria Damit, the organising chairman, said the festival is designed to encourage wholesome leisure activities and foster stronger community bonds.
He noted that part of the registration fees will go toward supporting the UMS Student Kitchen, urging more people to take part.
He said this inthis in a statement here today.
The event is set to be launched at 8 AM by Sabah’s Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food Industry, Datuk Jamawi Jaafar.
The closing and prize distribution ceremony is expected to be presided over by Datuk Mustapha Sakmud, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Sabah and Sarawak).
