KOTA KINABALU: Dr. Zhu Xinglong, the Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Kota Kinabalu, has described Sabah as a distinguished region celebrated for its multiculturalism, where various cultures flourish together and different ethnic groups live in harmony, inclusiveness, and friendship.
In this context, he expressed his pleasure in observing that the Chinese community in Sabah has consistently honored the “root and soul” of their heritage, cultivating Chinese culture within the rich tapestry of Sabah’s diversity while actively participating in local development.
“This characteristic of being grounded in Chinese cultural heritage while embracing openness and inclusivity has not only preserved the vitality of Chinese civilization but has also enriched the multicultural landscape of Sabah,” he remarked.
Dr. Zhu made these comments during his address at MCCC’s Annual Gala on Saturday night.
Also in attendance was MCCC Sabah president Datuk Dexter Lau.
Dr Zhu noted that it is on this profound humanistic foundation that MCCC Sabah has organized this event, utilizing art as a medium and culture as a bridge.
“By merging the deep-rooted heritage of Chinese culture with the distinctive allure of Sabah’s diverse ethnic traditions, this gala not only showcases exquisite traditional Chinese culture but also encourages the blending of Sabah’s varied cultures and enhances China-Malaysia cultural exchanges,” he continued.
Dr. Zhu expressed confidence that with the ongoing support of friendly Chinese communities like MCCC Sabah, the bond between these peoples will strengthen, and the groundwork for collaboration between China and Sabah will become even more robust.
“Just as trees flourish and springs begin their gentle flow, cultures thrive when they converge and intertwine. Art transcends borders, and friendship knows no bounds.
