KOTA KINABALU: The women’s doubles team of Pearly Tan and M Thinaah had no trouble reaching the quarter-finals of the 2026 All England Badminton Championship after defeating South Korea’s Lee Yeon Woo and S. Lee.
In the match held at the Utilita Arena Birmingham, the world’s second-ranked pair easily won against Lee Yeon Woo and S. Lee with scores of 21-14, 21-14.
Awaiting Pearly and Thinaah in the quarter-finals is the Indonesian pair of Meilysa Trias Puspita Sari and Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma.
Meanwhile, in the men’s doubles event, Malaysia is represented in the semi-finals as two local pairs, Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun and Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik, face each other in the quarter-finals.
In the second round, Man Wei Chong and Tee Kai Wun defeated the Taiwanese duo of Chiu Hsiang-Chieh and C.L. Wang with scores of 21-14, 21-18.
The Malaysian pair of Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik had to fight hard before overcoming their compatriots Yap Roy King and Junaidi Arif with scores of 21-15, 18-21, 21-18.
