TONGOD: The Sabah Ministry of Youth Development, Sports and Creative Economy (KBSK) has given assurances to continue the Tongod Sports Complex project, whose construction has been delayed since July last year.
According to the Kuamut State Assembly Member, Datuk Masiung Banah, the working visit of KBSK minister, Datuk Hj Nizam Datuk Seri Abu Bakar Titingan, to the project site yesterday ended the crisis of the white elephant project.
“I am satisfied because the minister himself assured me that the sports complex will be given full attention and that he will appoint a new contractor to complete the project in the near future.
“I myself will take the role to follow up so that this project is immediately accelerated,” he stressed when met by the media at the project site.
According to Masiung, although at the beginning he tried his best to get the project to Tongod district, the contractor appointed by the previous government was very disappointing.
In the State Assembly session in December last year, he loudly urged KBSK to pay serious attention so that the abandoned project be completed immediately.
The chairman of the SEDCO Group urged the KBSK to first examine the capabilities of the new contractor that will be appointed later so that the Tongod Sports Complex issue does not happen again.
Also participating in the working visit were KBSK Assistant Minister Dato Seri Dr Anal Sandhu, KBSK Permanent Secretary Datuk Mansor Adun and Tongod District Officer Hadzlan Jablee.
