KOTA KINABALU: The Supreme Council of Barisan Nasional (BN) has agreed to appoint Datuk Seri Arthur Joseph Kurup as the chairman of the Sabah BN Coordination Committee, to strengthen coordination and readiness of the party in the state.
This decision was made during the BN Supreme Council meeting chaired by BN Chairman, Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi here on Wednesday.
In a statement released, Ahmad Zahid also announced the appointment of Datuk Jafry Ariffin as the Deputy Chairman and Datuk Haji Mohd Hasnol Ayub as the Secretary of Sabah BN.
In related news, the meeting also welcomed the rejoining of the Malaysian Progressive People’s Party (PPP) as a component party of BN, in line with efforts to strengthen a multi-ethnic political coalition under one inclusive and progressive struggle.
Ahmad Zahid also expressed appreciation to Hajiji Noor for the appointment of Datuk Jafry Ariffin as Minister and Datuk Seri Dr Anil Sandhu as Assistant Minister, as well as his support for BN in the by-elections for P.187 Kinabatangan parliamentary seat and N.58 Lamag state assembly seat.
“BN is also enhancing its operations and readiness of the party machinery to face these two by-elections, focusing on coordination of the machinery, effective campaign strategies, and a continuous commitment to provide the best service to the people,” he said.
