KOTA KINABALU: The Youth Movement of the Sabah People’s Gagasan Party in the Sindumin division has called out the inconsistency of the Sabah DAP Youth Chief, who questioned the appointment of Datuk Dr Yusof Yacob as the Chairman of Sabah Development Berhad (SDB).
The Chief of the Youth Movement, Walter @ Fikrie Antahar, described the statement made by Chan Loong Wei as not only speculative but also a clear reflection of inconsistency and a tendency towards mere perception politics.
“The question is, has the Sabah DAP Youth Chief forgotten the political history of his own party? During the era of the Pakatan Harapan 1.0 government, the appointment of Lim Guan Eng as Minister of Finance was defended even when he faced court charges, on the grounds of respecting the rule of law and judicial processes,” he stated in the Youth Movement’s statement on Facebook.
He emphasised that the same principle should be applied consistently and not selectively based on current political interests.
“If at one time the principle of trust in the judicial process was used as a basis, why is the same principle being questioned today? Such an attitude clearly demonstrates a practice of double standards and political hypocrisy,” he asserted.
Walter at Fikrie also stressed that politics based on perception and sentiment does not benefit the people of Sabah; instead, it only invites confusion and undermines trust in institutions.
“The Sabah DAP Youth should present fair, consistent, and factual criticism, rather than engage in selective politics that ultimately harms the people and the stability of the state’s development,” he added.
Therefore, he urged all parties to practise mature, principled, and responsible politics for the sake of the people and the future of Sabah.
