Exco DAP ready to resign from the Melaka Unity Government

MELAKA – Allex Seah, the DAP Executive Councillor for Entrepreneur Development, Cooperatives, and Consumer Affairs, has expressed his willingness to resign if the Melaka State Unity Government is dissolved.

This comes in response to a challenge from UMNO Youth Chief, Dr. Muhamad Akmal Saleh, who urged DAP to withdraw from the Unity Government in the state.

Allex stated in a Facebook post that his appointment as an Exco was made after Melaka Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh, invited Pakatan Harapan (PH) to form the Unity Government in the state in 2023.

“To this day, I remain committed to the spirit of the Unity Government and dedicated to serving the people of Melaka under the current administration.

“I am always committed to working with all agencies under the portfolio of the Exco for Entrepreneur Development, Cooperatives, and Consumer Affairs of Melaka,” he said in a Facebook post on Saturday.

Allex, who is also the State Assemblyman (ADUN) for Kesidang, emphasized that his priority is the stability of the state and national government for the benefit of the people and the future of Melaka.

However, he stated that if BN or UMNO chooses to withdraw and dissolve the Melaka Unity Government, he will resign from his Exco position immediately.

“All decisions will follow the party’s decision.

“Today is the DAP Melaka Convention; let it be discussed tomorrow with the party leadership,” he said.

Dr. Akmal, who is also the ADUN for Merlimau, while speaking at the UMNO Youth Special Convention at the Kuala Lumpur World Trade Centre (WTC KL), challenged DAP to resign in Melaka since the party is also part of the state government led by BN.

He also urged that a resolution be made for UMNO to withdraw from the Unity Government.
