A baby boy found at Teluk Likas Public Park

KOTA KINABALU: A baby boy was discovered at Teluk Likas Public Park on the morning of December 20, 2025, according to the Kota Kinabalu District Police.

The District Police Chief of Kota Kinabalu, ACP Kasim Muda, stated that an initial report was received at 6:30 AM from a public call that spotted the baby in the area.

He said the baby is believed to have been born just a few hours before being found.

“The police confirmed that the baby is safe, alive, and has no injuries.

“An ambulance was called immediately, and the baby was taken to Likas Hospital for further examination,” he said in a statement on Sunday.

Kasim noted that investigations at the scene found no witnesses to the incident and that the area is not equipped with closed-circuit television (CCTV).

“The case is currently being investigated under Section 317 of the Penal Code.

“The police are actively searching for the responsible individual and have informed the Department of Social Welfare for the baby’s welfare actions,” he explained.

“The police advise the public not to speculate and to respect the privacy of those involved,” he added.
