Salleh remains Sabah UMNO Treasurer

KOTA KINABALU: Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak continues to serve as the Treasurer of Sabah UMNO.

This appointment was announced by the Chairman of the Sabah UMNO  Liaison Committee, Datuk Jafry Ariffin, here recently.

According to a report by BERNAMA, Jafry, who is also the Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Environment of Sabah, stated that the new leadership of UMNO Sabah is committed to advancing the party’s struggle in a more inclusive and mature manner, in line with its role as part of the state unity government.

“UMNO Sabah and BN are determined to be a mature, disciplined, and responsible partner in the government. We will work humbly, listen to the voices of the people, and fulfill our responsibilities for a more prosperous and dignified future for Sabah,” he said.

Meanwhile, Jafry mentioned that UMNO Sabah has identified several individuals as potential candidates for the upcoming by-election (PRK) for the Lamag State Constituency (DUN).

He stated that the party is reviewing the criteria for winnable candidates based on engagement sessions with local grassroots leaders, to ensure a comfortable victory in both seats.

“We have identified several candidates, and I am listening to everything that has been expressed by the grassroots leadership. God willing, we will bring this matter to a decision at the appropriate time,” he said.

Jafry noted that the potential candidates identified are male, newcomers, and have the potential to secure a more convincing victory for the party.

Previously, the son of the late Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin, Naim Kurniawan, was announced as the Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for the Kinabatangan parliamentary by-election.
