Warisan aims to win more parliamentary seats in the upcoming general election – Shafie

KOTA KINABALU: The Warisan party is targeting to secure a greater number of parliamentary seats in the next General Election (GE), according to its President, Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal.

The Semporna MP said that Warisan is confident of achieving better results by learning from past mistakes and refining the party’s strategies and operations at all levels.

“We learn from our experiences and previous errors. The upcoming GE requires more organized preparedness and a closer approach to the people,” he said during his speech at the Eighth Annual General Assembly of the Warisan Party here today.

Shafie mentioned that Warisan will continue to emphasize the fight for the people’s voice, particularly in addressing issues such as the cost of living, job opportunities, balanced development, and the basic needs of the people of Sabah and Malaysia as a whole.

He stressed that the party’s main goal is to ensure that the people’s voices are heard and represented in every policy and decision made.

“Warisan is a party that prioritizes the people’s voice. This is the foundation and goal of our struggle since our establishment,” he said.

Additionally, Shafie highlighted Warisan’s identity as a multi-ethnic party that adopts an inclusive approach, regardless of ethnic or religious backgrounds.

“Warisan is a multi-ethnic party. We believe that unity and social justice are key to the stability and progress of the nation,” he added.

Commenting on the party’s political stance, Shafie stated that Warisan is open to collaboration or merging at the federal level for the stability of the country and the interests of the people.

However, he emphasized that Warisan chooses to remain in opposition at the state level in Sabah to ensure effective checks and balances on the existing state government.
