PRK Kinabatangan: BN nominates the son of the late Bung Moktar

KOTA KINABALU: Mohd Naim Kurniawan, the son of the late Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin, has been announced as the Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for the upcoming by-election (PRK) in the Kinabatangan parliamentary seat, scheduled for January 24.

This was shared by Mohd Naim, who is also the Assistant Treasurer of UMNO Youth, in a post on his Facebook account after receiving the mandate from the party’s top leadership.

“Thank you to the BN Chairman, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, for the trust and responsibility as the BN candidate for the Kinabatangan parliamentary by-election.

“This is not just a party mandate, but also a call for justice from all the people in Kinabatangan,” he wrote on Friday night.

Mohd Naim, who is the eldest son of the former Kinabatangan MP, expressed that this moment would be even more meaningful if his father could witness it.

“How perfect it would be if my father could see this moment. However, Allah knows what is best.

“I will carry this condolence and congratulations with me, and I will fight for it with all my heart, strength, and sincerity,” he said.

Previously, UMNO Sabah announced that four names were submitted to Ahmad Zahid, who is also the President of UMNO, as candidates for the Kinabatangan parliamentary seat and the Lamag State Assembly (DUN).

For the record, Bung Moktar, 66, passed away in a private hospital in Kota Kinabalu on December 5 due to complications from kidney and lung issues.
