Sulu Claim Issue -Lahad Datu UMNO Applauds Azalina’s Efforts, Firmly Upholds Sabah’s Sovereignty

LAHAD DATU: Malaysia’s victory in the Sulu claim issue demonstrates that the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Legal Affairs and Institutional Reform) and UMNO Information Chief, Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said, is a dedicated minister who firmly defends the nation’s sovereignty.

In this regard, the Lahad Datu UMNO Chief, Sharif Musa Sharif Mabul, expressed his utmost gratitude and appreciation to the UMNO President and Deputy Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, for appointing Azalina, showcasing her capability and authority in addressing national issues.

“Alhamdulillah, as citizens of Sabah, we extend our heartfelt thanks to the President of UMNO Malaysia, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, for appointing Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said as the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Legal Affairs and Institutional Reform).

This appointment is highly significant for the people of Sabah,” he stated in a press release.

According to Sharif Musa, the Court of Appeal in Paris’s decision on December 9, which completely annulled the ‘Final Award’ in the claims made by those claiming to be heirs of the Sulu Sultanate against Sabah, proves the Malaysian government’s firmness in defending the nation’s sovereignty.

“The plans of certain parties to make claims against Sabah should not be taken lightly, as the heirs of the Sulu Sultanate are always seeking ways to ensure that Sabah is not recognized internationally as part of Malaysia,” he emphasised.

He said that the claims against Sabah are not a trivial matter and require strong and principled leadership.

“Ministers from UMNO and Barisan Nasional (BN) consistently defend every inch of Sabah to ensure that the people can live in peace and safety at all times,” he remarked.

Reflecting on history, Sharif Musa asserted that Sabah’s status as part of Malaysia is final and cannot be disputed.
