KOTA KINABALU: Former Sabah FC Head Coach Datuk Ong Kim Swee described the late Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin as a leader who successfully established the foundation of the team’s strength through complete trust and support for both players and coaches.
He acknowledged that his return to lead Sabah FC for several seasons starting in 2021 was due to being called back to serve under his leadership.
“He was a fighter and a leader. I had a very good connection with him.
“When we have a leader who gives 100 percent trust, we can achieve something great.
“This shows that Datuk Bung always thought of what was best for everyone in the team,” he added.
He made these remarks after paying his last respects to the former President of the Sabah Football Association (SAFA) at the City Mosque here on Friday.
Kim Swee, who is now appointed as the Technical Director of the Mokhtar Dahari Academy (AMD), stated that the late leader did not interfere in matters unrelated to the team’s performance but ensured the welfare of players and coaches was prioritized.
He mentioned that the contribution of the Kinabatangan MP in ensuring the team’s well-being and fostering teamwork among players and coaches was seen as a crucial factor in the success and performance of the Sabah team during his leadership.
His loss is now felt as a significant loss not only for the Sabah team but also for the state’s sports community and the society that values his dedication to developing local football.
