TAWAU: The Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate for the Merotai State Constituency, Datuk Ruji Ubi, has reaffirmed his commitment to establishing a dedicated recreational center for the youth if he is granted the mandate in this election.
He said that the provision of recreational facilities is urgently needed at this time, as young people in several areas, including Bombalai, Kijang, Kuala Merotai, Taman Semarak, and Hot Spring, lack organized recreational spaces.
“The youth in Merotai and its surrounding areas are very active, yet they do not have a recreational center. While Tawau city has sports complexes and well-equipped housing parks, rural areas like this still lack such facilities.
“If given the opportunity over the next five years, we will strive to create recreational areas for the benefit of the youth. The cost is not excessively high, as long as there is open space that can be upgraded,” he said during a Walkabout program at Hot Spring Market and Sin Onn Market here today.
Ruji mentioned that this initiative is part of his aspiration to ensure that the development of Merotai aligns with the progress of other areas in Tawau.
Commenting on his daily campaign activities, he noted that at least 15 programs are conducted each day to engage with residents and introduce himself as a candidate.
“The response has been very encouraging. Some I have met two or three times. I urge them to provide support if they wish to see changes, especially in Merotai and Hot Spring,” he stated.
At the same time, Ruji expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, for the various assistance provided to Sabah.
