SANDAKAN – The candidate for the 17th Sabah State Election (PRU DU Sabah) for the Sungai Manila seat, Hazem Mubarak Tun Musa (GRS), has pledged to drive development in the constituency if elected.
He said his goal is also to continue the development legacy already established in the area.
Addressing rumours that he is contesting solely because he is the son of the Yang di-Pertua Negeri, Tun Musa Aman, Hazem stressed that such claims should not be a concern.
He pointed out that his father had previously served in the Sungai Sibuga constituency.
Now, with a strong passion for politics, Hazem is committed to advancing development efforts in Sungai Manila.
On his prospects of winning, he expressed confidence, believing voters are capable of making sound judgements.
Hazem, who also serves as the PGRS Division Chief for Sungai Manila, has spent the past three years working on the ground and engaging with grassroots communities.
Earlier, during the nomination process, Hazem arrived at the Libaran Multipurpose Hall as early as 8.30am on Saturday, accompanied by his supporters and proposers.
His nomination was accepted along with five other candidates vying for the seat: Irian Nanang (Parti Impian Sabah), Sittinara (Parti Warisan), Yusri Abu (Perikatan Nasional), Zaini Tiksun (Barisan Nasional) and Faizal Wahab (Parti Perpaduan Rakyat Sabah).
The incumbent, Datuk Mokran Ingkat (BN), is not defending the seat.
