KOTA KINABALU: The federal government has opted against appealing the High Court’s decision concerning Sabah’s right to 40% of the federal revenue generated from the Bornean state.
As reported by FMT, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim made this announcement in a statement after a special Cabinet meeting held today.
Last month, the Kota Kinabalu High Court determined that Putrajaya had acted unlawfully by neglecting to fulfill Sabah’s 40% share of federal revenue for almost fifty years.
Justice Celestina Stuel Galid also ruled that the special grant agreements established by both the federal and state governments were unlawful and unconstitutional.
