Warisan disputes Datuk Nizam’s claim that the inclusion of former GRS leaders in Warisan represents a “wave of disappointment”

KOTA MARUD: Parti Warisan today rejected the claim by Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) Information Chief Datuk Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan that the entry of several former GRS leaders into Warisan represents a “wave of disappointment,” stressing instead that Nizam’s statement reflects GRS’s fear of the growing people’s movement across Sabah.

Parti Warisan Kota Marudu Division Chief, Majimis Timbuong, said Nizam’s remark reflects the attitude of a government that can no longer retain the loyalty and confidence of its own members, resorting instead to insults and accusations to cover up its internal failures.

“When people start leaving GRS, it’s not because they are disappointed about not getting positions — it’s because they are disappointed with the government,” said Majimis.

“They have seen for themselves how GRS has failed to deliver its promises, failed to defend Sabah’s rights, and failed to lead with integrity. This is the real wave — a wave of people’s awakening.”

GRS Narrative Collapsing Under Its Own Failures

Majimis stressed that those now being branded by Nizam as the “disappointed group” were once highly praised by GRS as “loyal grassroots leaders” — a clear display of political hypocrisy.

“When they were in GRS, they were praised. Once they leave, they’re branded as greedy and disappointed. That’s the GRS double standard — loyalty measured by convenience,” he said.

He added that this movement is not an isolated incident, but part of a growing wave of disillusionment among GRS members and the people of Sabah as a whole.

“This is not about personal ambition. It’s about the loss of trust in Hajiji’s leadership, which is now seen as weak, elitist, and disconnected from the people.”

A Wave of Hope, Not a Wave of Disappointment

Majimis emphasised that what is happening today is not a “wave of disappointment,” as claimed, but a wave of hope and renewal — as more leaders and citizens join Warisan’s struggle for Sabah’s dignity and rights.

“The Warisan wave is the voice of Sabahans who want justice and the restoration of the state’s dignity,” he said.

“We are not chasing positions — we are rebuilding trust.”

The Real Disappointment Lies Within GRS

“If Nizam wants to talk about disappointment, he should look inside GRS itself,” Majimis asserted.

“The real disappointment is seeing the 40% revenue entitlement still unfulfilled, the cost of living rising, and GRS leaders still fighting over seats. A government that fails to govern but excels at making excuses.”

He added that Sabahans are now increasingly aware and ready for change, while the growing support for Warisan signals a shift from frustration to determination to set the state’s direction right.

“Call it what you want — a wave, a movement, an awakening — the reality is clear: the people of Sabah are ready to move on from GRS’s politics of excuses,” he concluded.
