KDM questions ADUN for over 30 years fails to address the congested Berungis-Pekan Tuaran road

TUARAN: The Coordinator of the Democratic People’s Welfare Party (KDM), Pantai Dalit Jaesman Gipin, expressed sympathy for the plight of thousands of citizens, particularly road users affected by traffic congestion, especially between Berungis and the town of Tuaran.

He noted that during peak hours or holidays, many road users returning to villages around the Tuaran district from Kota Kinabalu complain and feel frustrated about the traffic issues.

“The root of this congestion problem is the failure to widen the Berungis-Pekan Tuaran road.

“Interestingly, this area has been represented by the same ADUN (before it was divided into two DUN areas) for over 30 years, and they have previously served and held significant positions in the government.

“It is no surprise that many are disappointed with this situation… due to this failure, the people have to bear the consequences. Logically, such an important road should have been widened a long time ago,” he said in his latest social media post.

Jaesman said that if there was genuine commitment and concern for the people’s interests, there would be no need to wait 40 years to widen the Berungis-Pekan Tuaran road.

“Financial issues should not be used as an excuse to delay the implementation of the road expansion project for Berungis-Pekan Tuaran, which is not even 10 km long, especially when the state’s financial position is touted as strong and reserves are increasing,” he said.

He added that the majority of the people now desire change for a better future.

Therefore, Jaesman urged the public, especially in the Pantai Dalit and Sulaman DUNs, to rise and make the right decisions in the upcoming PRN17 for the common good.

“Enough is enough… give new leaders a chance to improve the situation in the Pantai Dalit and Sulaman DUNs,” he concluded.
