KOTA KINABALU: After analysing Warisan’s electoral performance in the 2018 and 2020 elections, we can consider what to expect from the people of Sabah in the upcoming 2025 election.
In the previous elections, Warisan secured approximately 47.19% of the votes in 2018 and 43.42% in 2020.
The removal of Article 6(7) from the Sabah State Constitution poses a significant challenge for Warisan, as they can no longer rely on its provisions.
Additionally, various parties, including retired senior politicians and paid cyber troopers, are attempting to create a narrative that all is well in Sabah.
However, this perception is far from the truth, as many Sabahans experience the reality of daily life firsthand.
To reclaim the Sabah State Government, Warisan needs to secure a significant number of seats.
Out of the 73 available seats, they must aim for between 37 and 50 seats in the next general election, which corresponds to approximately 50.6% to 68.5% of the total.
Warisan has reached out to local political parties for cooperation, but these efforts have been rejected outright.
As a result, Warisan is effectively going into this election as a lone entity, competing against other well-funded groups in the political landscape.
There are limited local parties in Sabah that should seize this opportunity to form an alliance, as the window for doing so is closing quickly. “Make that decision and take full responsibility for it.”
Warisan has been campaigning for the past two years. During his brief tenure as Chief Minister, he gathered substantial evidence of the mismanagement by both previous and current administrations.
The public’s support for Warisan has been clearly demonstrated through their rallies and community engagements.
The people of Sabah are eager for him to lead the State Government once again.
Dato’ Seri Shafie Apdal emphasises the importance of unity and calls on everyone to come together to build a better future for Sabah.
Sabahan voters hold the power to unite and transform our circumstances, or we can choose to remain in our current situation.
The choice is ours: to create a better future.
