Warisan and UMNO/BN likely to form a coalition government after PRN – Ligunjang

KOTA KINABALU: Former state assemblyman Datuk James Ligunjang expressed his belief that it is improbable for any single party to achieve a definitive victory in the forthcoming state election (PRN).

Consequently, he indicated that governance will likely rely on coalitions established by various parties.

“As Sabah’s political landscape becomes increasingly polarised, it is unlikely that a single party will secure an outright victory in the upcoming state election,“ he said in his latest social media post.

However, Ligunjang said the current GRS state government, comprising eight local parties alongside PH, maintains a strong position to win the election.

Conversely, he said Warisan’s chances of securing a simple majority seem limited based on previous election results and recent performance.

“Therefore, Warisan will likely need to forge alliances with other parties to attain a governing majority,“ he said.

According to Ligunjang, considering Warisan’s prior collaboration with UMNO during the Langkah Kinabalu incident, a coalition between Warisan and UMNO/BN to form the next government is a highly plausible scenario.

Will such a coalition be accepted by Sabahans? He asked.
