Warisan prioritises collaboration with the people to address key issues in Sabah

KOTA KINABALU: The Warisan Party has decided to collaborate with the people of Sabah, prioritising the resolution of local issues ahead of the upcoming State Election (PRN).

Its president, Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal, said that Warisan is primarily focused on addressing the concerns of the people of Sabah, particularly regarding access to clean water, electricity, and improved road infrastructure.

He emphasised that if the coalition’s priority were solely on party alliances, the competition for seats would overshadow these critical issues.

“The parties that unite will primarily seek ministerial positions and projects… However, if we (Warisan) connect with the people, they will voice their concerns about water supply, prompting us to act swiftly.

“The people of Sabah are currently burdened by unresolved issues, including the need for job opportunities, schools, healthcare facilities, and quality roads,” he remarked during a press conference today.

Mohd Shafie highlighted that addressing these matters is a key agenda for Warisan as they aim to unite with the populace in preparation for the upcoming state elections.

Regarding candidates representing Warisan in the Sabah state elections, he noted that selections will be made to ensure representation from existing constituencies to secure victories.

“We must consider other factors… Avoid jumping ship; we have learnt from past experiences.

“This will serve as a fundamental basis and criteria for selecting candidates to represent Warisan in the upcoming Sabah elections. We do not want to win only for the people to later complain about difficulties in reaching their representatives to resolve their issues,” Mohd Shafie explained.

He also expressed confidence that Warisan can secure seats in the West Coast of Sabah, given the strong support from the public at this time.

“Warisan previously had representatives in areas such as Sindumin Sipitang, Banggi, and Tanjung Kapor Kudat,” he said.
