PAPAR: Various integrated development initiatives are being implemented to generate economic agglomeration in this district.
Papar Member of Parliament Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali said this includes exploring the district’s potential as a tourism destination.
“The latest is the existence of the Majestic Ballroom in Park Land City, in Benoni Papar, which I just launched a while ago,” he said when met by reporters at the event.
Armizan said the Majestic Ballroom in Park Land City, Benoni Papar, which began operating today, is no less important because it will definitely benefit the residents of Papar.
“This is because this ballroom can be booked as a venue for various events, including school convocations. In the past, schools held these events in Kota Kinabalu. Now there are these facilities, and they no longer have to bother going to Kota Kinabalu,” he said.
Armizan, who is also the Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living, also touched on the construction of a five-star hotel in Melinsung Papar.
“This is one of the initiatives that can drive our efforts to create what I have mentioned before. We want to make Papar a new tourism hub in Sabah.
He said that tourism is not focused solely on tourism but needs to be supported by other components, including entertainment, food and beverage and rural tourism.
Meanwhile, Chief Executive Officer of 10 Star Cinema Sdn Bhd, Onn Norshal Hamzah, said Papar has great potential for the development of industries such as cinema film production and film distribution.
WSG Group Managing Director, Datuk Susan Wong Siew Guen, said, apart from the cinema, now the residents of Papar have a banquet ballroom to hold various events such as weddings and so on.
“With facilities like this, the residents of Papar no longer need to go to Kota Kinabalu,” he said.
