KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Barisan Nasional (BN) Treasurer Datuk Sri Dr Salleh Said Keruak emphasised that political accommodation will bring about political stability, ensuring equal opportunity for the progress of the state.
Speaking at a leadership seminar organised by Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS) here today, the former chief minister is appreciative that PBRS remains a consistent party within Barisan Nasional (BN) and continues to play an important role as the voice of the rural communities in Sabah.
Salleh recalled PBRS’s history of involvement in BN, highlighting its steadfast commitment to the principles of loyalty, stability, and the championing of rural people’s interests, particularly in the interior areas of Sabah.
“PBRS remains consistent within Barisan Nasional and continues to be an important bridge between the rural people and the mainstream of national development,” he said.
In the context of the changing political landscape of the country and the state, Datuk Seri Panglima Salleh also stressed that the new politics requires a new approach, which is the politics of accommodation.
He outlined three main priorities that should serve as the foundation of the struggle:
Building a development narrative based on the real needs of the people.
Championing Sabah’s autonomy within the framework of the Malaysian Constitution.
Focusing efforts on engaging with the younger generation and fostering a culture of mature and progressive politics.
He called on all PBRS leaders to remain committed to playing a strategic role in rebuilding the strength of Barisan Nasional in Sabah.
“Politics is not merely about gaining power but about building trust and the future of the people. PBRS has a major responsibility in shaping the new direction of politics in Sabah and Malaysia,” he stressed.
The PBRS Leadership Seminar is held to strengthen the fighting spirit of the party and to prepare a new generation of leadership capable of addressing future political challenges.
Also in attendance are Datuk Richard Kastum, Deputy President of PBRS; Datin Zainon Zayum Khan, the Woman Head; Datuk Freddie Sua, the Information Chief; among others.
