George Wong Visits Police and Fire Stations to Honour Frontline Protectors and Advocate for Disaster Prevention

KOTA KINABALU – During the holy month of Ramadan, officers from the Inanam Police Station and firefighters from the Lintas Fire and Rescue Station have been steadfast in their duty, sacrificing personal time with their families to ensure the safety and security of the public.

Their dedication to safeguarding lives and property exemplifies unwavering commitment and selflessness.

In recognition of their service, George Wong, Committee Member and Head of International Affairs Bureau for the Democratic Action Party (DAP) Sabah, recently visited both stations to extend his gratitude on behalf of the party.

As a token of appreciation, he presented 200 servings of porridge and dates (Kumar) to the on-duty personnel, fostering goodwill and strengthening ties with these vital emergency response teams.

George Wong also urged the public to heighten their awareness of fire safety, particularly during the Ramadan period.

He reminded residents to switch off main power supplies and gas valves before ‘balik kampung’ or travelling and to ensure that fire prevention measures are in place both at home and in public spaces.

He emphasised that the tragic fire incident in Kampung Cempaka, Kg. Likas, in early March serves as a stark reminder of the importance of fire preparedness.

“Only through collective effort and proactive safety measures can we build a safer and more resilient community,” Wong stated.
