KOTA KINABALU: Tawau has been designated as the host for the 11th Sabah Games (SAGA), which will take place over a week starting October 11.
State Minister of Youth and Sports, Datuk Ellron Angin, said that 30 teams, including new participants from sub-districts of Sook and Paitan, will compete in this prestigious state-level event.
He said that there will be 25 sports events contested during this edition of SAGA.
Ellron stressed that efforts are underway to ensure that all facilities and venues to be used are in excellent condition and suitable for the SAGA sports events.
He made these remarks after chairing a meeting to discuss the organisation of SAGA 2025 recently.
On accommodation, he said that the Tawau Municipal Council has been tasked with identifying appropriate lodging options for the athletes participating in SAGA.
He also urged the organisers to exercise caution when making accommodation bookings to avoid falling victim to scams.
Ellron expressed hope that this year’s SAGA would help identify talented and potential athletes who can be nurtured and trained to compete in higher-level sports events in the future.
