KOTA KINABALU: Sabah is hopeful about gaining advantages from Sarawak’s ownership of the airline AirBorneo, according to Sabah’s Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Environment, Datuk Seri Christina Liew.
“Congratulations to them. I believe this acquisition will boost Sabah’s tourism industry,” she said.
Christina made her comments during an Open Day and Dialogue Session with the Sabah-MM2H Agency recently.
She said that her ministry is working hard on initiatives to achieve the best results for the state.
“We are actively promoting Sabah through my ministry and the Sabah Tourism Board. I hope we can broaden our promotional activities to more countries and draw in more tourists to Sabah,” she added.
On February 12, Sarawak officially took over MASwings Sdn Bhd from Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG), and the airline will be rebranded as AirBorneo. The transfer of ownership is expected to be finalized by the end of 2025
