KOTA KINABALU: Referring to the news where the Sarawak Premier’s Chief Political Secretary cum Tupong assemblyman questioned DAP Sarawak about what they have done for the state, compared to the current situation in Sarawak, what is more disheartening is the deafening silence of DAP when it comes to the ongoing corruption crisis in Sabah.
So, I ask, what has Sabah DAP truly done for Sabah?
For years, DAP has long been associated with anti-corruption efforts during the leadership of Lim Kit Siang and Karpal Singh. Their legacy was built on the pillars of transparency, justice, and accountability. Yet, now, it seems their once-strong values have deteriorated to nothing more than an empty rhetoric, used by the party as mere propaganda. “Shouting loudly, but taking no meaningful action.”.
It is rather heartbreaking when the corruption scandals involving the ruling assemblypersons pertaining to the mineral exploration licenses in Sabah have been dominating the headlines for such a long period and even in the Parliament. Yet, the DAP fellows remain silent, as though this is none of their concern.
Where are today’s DAP leaders when Sabah continues to make the headlines, stained with corruption scandals and even facing development challenges, particularly for integrity, transparency, justice, and accountability?
It seems like the party that once stood for the pillars of transparency, justice, and accountability now turns a blind eye when these very issues plague our people. They have remained silent when fighting for the rights of Sabahans; perhaps the fight for integrity, transparency, justice, and accountability is not worth their action.
Enough of words, enough of empty promises. Sabahans deserve real action—action that is long overdue. It’s time to stop hiding behind slogans and start standing up for the people of Sabah. The time for silence has passed. Now, more than ever, our people demand to see results, not just hear more hollow rhetoric.
