PERPADUAN urges GRS government to promptly address the issue of potholes in KK City area

KOTA KINABALU: The National Unity Organization of Sabah (PERPADUAN) has called on the authorities under the GRS government to urgently repair the damaged roads, particularly the potholes in the city of Kota Kinabalu.

The Secretary-General of PERPADUAN, Fedilis Onong Wan, emphasized that immediate action is crucial to prevent fatal accidents caused by hitting potholes.

“The unfortunate incidents occurring in the Kota Kinabalu city area should serve as a lesson for everyone, especially the authorities under the GRS government.

“We do not want to see any more tragic fatalities. If there is negligence on the part of the authorities regarding road maintenance, it must come to an end for the benefit of all, especially road users,” he said in a statement today.

Yesterday, a man lost his life after his motorcycle skidded due to a pothole in an incident at the Lido Overpass on Jalan Lintas.

The incident, which occurred around 11 a.m., resulted in the victim, in his 30s, being pronounced dead after more than two hours of treatment at Queen Elizabeth I Hospital (HQEI).

Fedilis noted that, based on public feedback, issues related to water supply (intermittent availability), electricity, and road conditions are among the primary complaints that the current state government should seriously address.
