Bung regrets GRS’ attempt to slander UMNO assemblymen, demanding MACC to take prompt action.

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah UMNO chief Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin has expressed disappointment over the attempts by the GRS government to defame UMNO assemblymen in connection with corruption allegations, as reported by Malaysiakini.

He said that such actions are not only unethical but also deeply embarrassing, as those involved are willing to fabricate narratives solely to protect their positions.

In this context, Bung demanded clarification from Datuk Arifin Mohd Arif, the individual mentioned in the Malaysiakini article, concerning allegations of his involvement in preparing a script that implicates UMNO assemblymen in this matter.

“The issue of the viral video related to the corruption scandal involving Sabah assemblymen can no longer be denied.

“The public is beginning to recognize the truth, and only the staunch supporters of their party continue to defend what is evidently exposed,” he said in a statement today.

Following this, Bung, who is also the Member of Parliament for Kinabatangan, urged the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (SPRM) to take immediate action and bring all involved parties to justice without any compromise.

“Those who have committed wrongdoings must be held fully accountable. There should be no attempts to evade responsibility or to obfuscate when the truth comes to light.

“I also perceive that the leadership of GRS is increasingly misguided, akin to being lost on a well-lit path, justifying various means to preserve their power,” he added.

Nevertheless, Bung noted that the reality is that the vessel they are aboard is increasingly leaking and is merely awaiting the moment to sink in the vast ocean.
