The event, held on Saturday, also marked a historic occasion for the district as it was the first time a lucky draw was conducted, offering prizes including a Perodua Axia car, three motorcycles, 40 grass-cutting machines, and 200 bags of rice, among other items.

The Chief of Gagasan Rakyat Tambunan, Datuk Victor P. Paut, who officiated the event, also announced a personal contribution of RM100,000 towards the construction of the new St. Theresa Church in Tambunan, in addition to RM30,000 for 53 other churches in the area. Furthermore, 33 schools received financial aid totalling RM16,500.

In his speech, Victor stated that the financial contributions were intended to assist and alleviate the financial burdens faced by religious organisations in the district.

“Similarly, we must not forget charitable and educational institutions that require support as we celebrate Christmas,” he remarked.

Regarding the open house celebration, Victor emphasised that it serves as an excellent platform to strengthen relationships and enhance harmony among the residents of Tambunan.

“This is the first time Gagasan Rakyat Tambunan has organised a Christmas and New Year 2025 Open House, and I am thrilled by the remarkable turnout. There are so many people here,” he expressed.

In addition to enjoying the complimentary food provided by the organisers, attendees were entertained by various performances from local artists, including Datuk Francis Landong and Rosario Bianis.

The event was also attended by Datuk Daniel Kinsik, the Chief of the Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) Tambunan division, and the Chief of the Parti Maju Sabah (SAPP) Tambunan division.
