KOTA KINABALU: The Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (Gagasan Rakyat) has established a negotiating committee to discuss the allocation of seats for the upcoming 17th State Election (PRN17) with component parties of the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS), including the parties supporting the government, namely the Pakatan Harapan (PH) Plus.
President of Gagasan Rakyat Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said the committee will be chaired by its deputy president Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun.
“The seat distribution committee was established to discuss with the component parties in GRS, including the parties that support the current government, namely PH-Plus,” he said.
Hajiji told reporters this after chairing the Supreme Council Meeting (AMT) of the Gagasan Rakyat here on Monday.
Hajiji said that the discussion on the seat distribution focused on the component parties of GRS first, but he added that it does not close the door to other parties that support the unity government.
“So, we are always open and can discuss, what matters is for the good of our state,” he said.
Further commenting on the discussions of today’s meeting, Hajiji, who is also the Chief Minister of Sabah, said it was about the preparations for the upcoming Gagasan Rakyat Annual General Conference scheduled for November 8 to 10.
According to him, around 6,000 delegates and observers are expected to attend the conference.
He said that so far, there are more than 304,817 members of Gagasan Rakyat and 6,977 branches.
“So, this is the party we are mobilizing to serve the people, especially in the lead-up to the upcoming elections.” Because all parties, including the party I lead and the GRS component parties, are preparing themselves for the election that will be held no later than October next year.
“In addition to discussing the President’s keynote address, we will also discuss the proposal regarding the education as well as economy,” he said
“So, we have also appointed the representatives who will participate in debating the motions that will be presented at this conference,” he explained.
