KOTA KINABALU: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor announced today the State Cabinet has endorsed the state public service salary adjustment in two phases in line with the implementation of the Public Service Remuneration System (SSPA) on December 1.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced on Aug 16 that the SSPA will replace the Malaysian Remuneration System (SSM).
According to Hajiji, the salary adjustment for the state’s 21,228 public service personnel to be implemented on Dec 1 (first phase) and Jan 1, 2026 (second phase) would involve a total allocation of RM103,020,059.66.
Hajiji said the State Cabinet also agreed to adjust the wage rate for the state’s daily part- time workers to a minimum of RM1,725 per month as well as improving existing perks beginning December 1.
The salary adjustment for the 2,116 daily part-time workers would cost RM46,096,140.
“The total allocation for the salary adjustment of the state civil service and daily part-time workers is RM149,116,199.66,” he added.
The salary adjustment is a manifestation of the State Government’s acknowledgement of the contribution of the state public service personnel and daily part-time workers to the state’s development agenda, apart from helping to relieve the increasing daily living cost, he said.
